The Cottage exists to offer protection and support and positive expectations when people experience situations that make their life difficult to manage. Their work operates based on three core values which include compassion and dignity and empowerment. The Cottage provides assistance to people who require emergency protection or emotional care or extended support services which enable them to achieve recovery and self-sufficiency. People become isolated through abuse which creates hidden situations that others cannot observe. The situation creates feelings of being trapped while making the person feel they cannot express themselves or find their way out of this situation. The Cottage along with other organizations work to end survivor isolation through their development of protected environments which provide survivors with belief-based support and respectful care.<\/p>\n
